If you want to mix your own oil, you'll need two things: essential oils that are safe for the skin and a carrier oil. The three most common carrier oils are sweet almond oil, avocado oil, and grape seed oil. Sweet almond oil is great for helping with dry skin and soothing skin irritations. It's also a good oil for people with sensitive skin. Avocado oil is beneficial for the skin as it contains a lot of vitamins, which are absorbed by the skin. Grape seed oil is a good carrier oil because it's very light, making it easy to blend with essential oils. Another advantage of grape seed oil is that it works well with all skin types. Once you've chosen the carrier oil that works best for you and your partner, you can decide to add essential oils. There are two things to keep in mind when choosing an essential oil. You must ensure it is safe for the skin and you should not apply it directly to the skin. Applying essential oils directly can cause skin irritations. When choosing an essential oil, you have many options. One of the most popular oils is lavender. This is a great essential oil to use if your partner experiences a lot of anxiety or stress, as it helps the body relax. If your partner doesn't like the smell of lavender, chamomile can be used for the same effect. Chamomile also helps relax muscles. Other essential oils that can help relieve anxiety and stress include jasmine, sandalwood, and sage. If your partner has a lot of muscle pain, some essential oils might be helpful. Black pepper, mint, and rosemary are good for muscle pain. Once you've decided on your essential oil, you'll need to mix it with the carrier oil. Initially, I would recommend adding just a few drops at a time. You can always add more if you wish, but if you add too much, it can be difficult to balance. You can get creative when mixing massage oils. You can blend some essential oils to create your own scents, but if you're going to do this, I recommend experimenting with small test batches using the carrier oil in small cups and adding the oil so you don't lose its properties by creating a scent you don't like. When it comes to buying a good commercial oil, you should pay attention to the ingredient list. I usually find that the best commercial massage oils are very simple. They typically have a few carrier oils along with the fragrance and that's it. When it comes to an affordable commercial massage oil, I personally like the Shunga massage oil. The oils listed in the ingredients, though simple, are very good for the skin. You want to know what you're putting on your skin. If you're unsure if you're allergic to something, I recommend doing a patch test. To do this, apply a small amount of oil on your wrist or the inside of your elbow, leave it uncovered for twenty-four hours, and don't wash the area during this time. If you experience any itching, swelling, or redness, then you shouldn't use this oil. I would recommend doing this for any new oil you plan to use. I also recommend doing this for your partner before the massage. Although it might take away the spontaneity of suddenly giving your partner a sensual massage, it would be much worse if you give your partner a massage with an oil they're allergic to.
