Pherostrong makes pheromone perfumes, and almost its whole range sits in our Pheromones category. It has two clearly separate lines, one for men and one for women, each with its own scent profile. For men, Beast and Limited Edition stand out, along with the brand's basic fragrance.

The women's line is bigger, with names like Queen, Popularity and By Night, plus several more fragrances, including one with an oriental floral profile. All come in several sizes: 1 ml to try the scent, 15 ml to carry with you and 50 ml for everyday use. A handful of products also fit under erotic cosmetics, aphrodisiacs and massage oils, with an oil base.

How to choose between the options

Start with who it is for. Men's and women's fragrances have different profiles, and each product page says who it is made for. If you don't know the brand, begin with the small size. It lets you see how it smells on your own skin and how long it lasts before you buy a big bottle.

A perfume doesn't smell the same on everyone. Try it on your wrist and wait a few minutes for it to settle before you decide, because the first impression is the alcohol. If you already have a fragrance you like, look for a similar profile, fresher or stronger. And if you want it for your purse or for traveling, the 15 ml size is the most practical.

Use, tolerance and storage

Apply a small amount to pulse points, like the neck or wrists, on clean, dry skin. Using more doesn't improve the result and can overpower the room. Don't apply it to mucous membranes, the genital area, or irritated or freshly shaved skin.

The base is alcohol with fragrance and water, and it includes aromatic components such as limonene, linalool, citral and geraniol, which can cause irritation or allergy in some people. If your skin is sensitive, test a small area first and wait a day. If you get redness or itching, stop using it. Close the bottle tightly after each use so the scent doesn't change, and keep it somewhere cool, dark and away from any flame. If you choose a massage oil, remember it isn't compatible with condoms: oil damages latex.
