The essentials
Pjur Med Vegan: what you need to know before you buy
Is it for you?
Who the Pjur Med Vegan is for, and who it isn't
It suits you if…
- You want a water-based lubricant without glycerine, parabens or perfume.
- You want a vegan product registered with the Vegan Society.
- You will use it with latex condoms or sex toys.
- You would like to try a 2 ml sachet before moving on to the 100 ml bottle.
Better look elsewhere if…
- You prefer a silicone-based lubricant. This one is water-based. Take a look at the Pjur Med Soft, a silicone-based lubricant.
- You need more than 100 ml. Take a look at the HOT Superglide, also available in 200 ml.
- You want it flavoured or scented. It is made without perfume or added flavourings.
- Your skin or mucous membrane is irritated. The manufacturer asks you to avoid contact in that case.
Step by step
How to use the Pjur Med Vegan
- Apply as much as you like to the intimate area. The manufacturer states it for the penis and vagina, and for daily use.
- With a condom, apply it to the outside once it is on. It works with latex condoms.
- If you use too much, wipe off the excess with lukewarm water. The top layer of the skin absorbs most of it.
- Do not reuse any lubricant you have taken out of the pack. It is for single use only.
- Store it at room temperature and away from sunlight.
Cleaning
Any excess on the skin can be removed with lukewarm water.
Manufacturer's warnings
- Avoid contact with the eyes and with irritated skin or mucous membrane.
- If the irritation does not go away, see a doctor.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- It is not a contraceptive or a spermicide.
- If it gets on smooth surfaces, it can make them slippery.

What the science says
What the science says about water-based lubricants
The studies we cite did not test the Pjur Med Vegan. What has been studied is the use of water-based and silicone-based lubricants.
Over 5 weeks, water-based lubricants were associated with fewer genital symptoms than silicone-based ones, and both types with more pleasure and sexual satisfaction. This is an association, not a cause and effect relationship.
